Introduction
What's Taonga Puoro? A puoro is an amazing traditional Maori instrument; they sound like a high pitched bird. Puoro are used to calm down sick people and useful for kupu haka. Jesus command ‘’You can do all things through me’’
How to make a Taonga Puoro
Firstly, you need a block of clay and rip it in halves, next you grab one of the halves and throw it palm to palm until it’s shaped like a sphere. Then you imprint your thumb in the middle of the clay. After that, you pinch the clay with your first three fingers to make sides. Make sure they’re thick so that they can make a proper sound. Then repeat with your other sphere.
Making Music
Secondly, you etch the rim of the clay on the Ukutangi. Then you will combine the two bowl-like shapes and smudge the line on the Ukutangi. Next, you drill a hole in the middle of the Ukutangi with your pinky.
Summary
Lastly to sum it up, enjoy your Ukutangi and teach your family and friends how to blow one and make one. Blow half your breath in and half out. Have fun and enjoy.
